The Circle Of Life

The Circle Of Life

I don’t know if you’re a Lion King fan or not, but if you’re uncertain then I highly recommend checking it out, and I bet you become one! So, when I reflect over the past two weeks the song “The Circle Of Life” from the Lion King movie kept coming to mind. Partly because the new Lion King is coming out in theaters, but mostly due to an eventful two weeks as I was reminded over and over again of how beautiful the circle of life truly is.

My family hosted a 60th birthday party for a dear cousin who has been struggling with an illness, but there was no illness allowed or even apparent at this gathering! What began as a birthday celebration soon grew into a family and friends reunion. Our continual never-ending connection to each other was demonstrated in the way you feel you have a sense of no time loss at all when brought back together. As family and friends traveled in and through our home over the past two weeks, and absent of any drama, we gathered, laughed, ate, drank, lots of beer, wine, and coffee. We shared stories, spent time making new friends and making up for lost time with old ones. We hugged, took goofy photos, looked at old photos, made messes and talked ALOT, we lived fully present.

As things settle down and my heart feels the sense of sadness in the physical separation with every departure, I bring my thoughts back to the gratitude and joy that was gifted to me as a part of this experience. Although at times physically apart we can carry with us the knowledge that we remain forever connected through DNA, emotion, memories, love, experiences, times well had and a deeper understanding of that circle of life.

The circle of life tells us that we always remain connected, we were, we are, and we will be. Like a tree that drops its leaves they compost into the ground which then supports the next season's stronger and healthier new growth, life is a continual cycle, there is never really a true disconnect, time is linear because man says it’s so, wisdom tells us a different story.

Live happy, live present, live always connected!
