Harvesting The Bounty
To everything, there is a season and for many of us, Autumn is a welcomed season. It’s my personal favorite as things make a shift into cooler weather, sweaters, boots, good smells, and gatherings but, it is also a time as we approach the end of a year that we can reflect back on the bounty of the year and make a shift into gratitude and rest. As the leaves drop from the trees, I am reminded of the temporary nature of everything and that soon there will be a new beginning. As the days become shorter I give myself permission in these moments to rest and find the balance within.
The harvest marks the end of the growing season or a growing cycle. There is a growing cycle within each of us let it be marked by the seasonal celebration. With grateful hearts, we can relax and reflect as we reap what we have sown. Autumn is a season of comfort, let us embrace the warmth and peace that the season brings. It is also a season of self-awareness, self reflection paying attention to what it is I need, reflecting on the areas of our lives that no longer serve us, and what can be let go of allowing them to fade, wilt, and perish as dry leaves dropping from a tree, not allowing ourselves to become stagnant and recognizing what nourishes us and making time to restfully honor that.
Autumn reminds us that everything is cyclical and of the impermanence of life, nudging us to embrace the presence savoring the bounty and taking time to connect deeply with ourselves and the world around us. Harvesting our bounty and the good things that are given, is feeling the gratitude for the hard work, growth, connections and the simple knowing that to everything there is a season.
We will all celebrate the season in our favorite way and as you do so think back at where you were a year ago today and how far you have come. Embrace the changing of seasons and the fruits of your long labor along with the inevitable changes that the next year will bring. Rest in the knowledge that you will plant a new stronger, richer, more colorful crop and the beautiful cycle of life will continue.
