The Power Behind Thought

The Power Behind Thought

By, Donna Daacke

The whole idea behind mindfulness is to quiet the thoughts, right? Not so much, not going to happen. I think of it in simpler terms of active and inactive thinking. Inactive thinking is our mind wanting to think in waking moments, and even when we’re sleeping, kind of like being on autopilot just generating thought-forms. The average person has about 48 thoughts per minute that is an estimate of 69-70,000 conscious thoughts in a single day. When we are mindful, we are allowing those thoughts in their automatic mode, but savoring the space in and around them.

Active thinking is when we give power to those thoughts. The more energy we give a thought, the more momentum and intensity it will have. We know that thought can generate an emotion. That emotion is energy in motion. It is the reaction such as fear, sadness, joy, or excitement that is directed typically toward feeding the thought, as to put energy into an idea. You’ll know you’re giving it power when you can feel it within the body. When we’re generating positive charge to the body, we are offering it much health benefit. When we’re generating energy that is of love, peace, ease, we are producing biochemicals that beneficially nourish the body and the immune system. The opposite is true when we give too much charge to those thoughts that don’t serve or hold truth, such as fear, sadness, anxiety with an over amp-age of unwanted biochemicals. The power behind the thought happens when we engage in the active thought process. The brain is a sophisticated information processor, the body’s energy discharge regulator. When negative thought has too much discharge, you’ll know by the amount of real estate it takes up within the body. And as master and commander of your ship and keen self-regulator, you can practice becoming aware of those less desirable thoughts and how to transfer power to higher serving thoughts. When you identify a negative thought, challenge it. Follow the thought thread back, Is it true in its entirety and where’s it coming from? Next, replace the thought with something more positive and affirming. Thought...... ( I lost my job because I am not very good at what I do.) or ( I really lost my job because a pandemic has created less need for my position, but I know there’s an even better opportunity as I move ahead.) With an ongoing awareness, we can become better at managing as we practice adjusting the function of our autopilot to hand flying.
The same is correct for generating the power behind a positive thought. To bring in more of a good thing requires the practice of actually doing so. While self-regulating notice what thoughts feel good, does more positive self-talk, shifting into gratitude, nature, or positive people feel good? Being more deliberate with your thought choices when you can is better than not at all. Thought..... I want to get this project done by the end of the day. (it’s just too much, I’ll never get this all finished, it’s not possible) or ( I know I have a lot to do today, so I will get started, and it will feel good to get done what I can.) Noticing if there a pattern, and consider which thought-form do you think is more beneficial?
The power behind our thoughts has an impact on others as well. When we project our positive or negative energy charged thoughts out to the world they transmit an influence. You’re having a bad day, others around you may have a bad day. The heart has an electromagnetic field 100 times stronger than the brain. As a society, we generate mass fear or mass joy, and that is the charge we will experience. When we practice awareness of our thoughts through self-regulation, recognizing the power we give them in any given moment, we gain the ability to navigate through life’s challenges with more ease and joy. In doing so, we also take back our power in how we energetically serve our bodies, serve humanity, and expand energy into the design of the life we desire.

Sending highly charged thoughts of love and health to you all, XO Donna
