Mind - Body - Connection

Mind - Body - Connection

By, Donna Daacke

We are all familiar with the phrase “mind over matter” We can’t have mind over matter if there is no connection right? There should be no doubt that there is a deep connection between the body and the mind and how our thoughts do impact our state of well being. Science tells us that chronic stress and anxiety will take their toll on our physical health. A chronic state of unhealthy stress thoughts translates into a constant stream of unhealthy energetic emotion that translates into a break down of cellular structure inducing a state of unhealthy condition. Our bodies can tolerate a lot and we will manage stress and anxiety in smaller measures. It’s the chronic state of unhealthy lifestyle we are talking about here. Fight or flight tells us that we either confront (fight) something or we flee. The biological evolution our bodies have not yet caught up to the level of stressors that we manage in todays world regularly. Our bodies fight or flight mode wants to trigger it’s stress response as though it’s confronting a bear or threat on an almost constant basis.  We can learn to dissipate that charge with awareness and being intentional with positive mind-body practices

Five healthy mind-body practices

1. Anything that promotes progressive relaxation such as guided imagery.

2. Learning to body scan, feeling into the physical areas of the body that are holding on to stress and breathing and sending thoughts of love into those areas of the body.

3. Finding stillness in even tiny increments throughout the day, perhaps after work in your car  before heading into your house. Whenever your body is telling you it’s overcharged.

4. Movement of any kind, yoga, ride a bike, take a walk, or just do some stretching.

5. Playing healing sound music apps.

If you find yourself struggling to manage stress and anxiety in your life consider working with a mentor for guidance. Highly charged thoughts do lead to highly charged emotions that lead to a highly charged physical body.

You're worth it!
